In this activity we will visit the site for Diego Rivera---one of the three great Muralists of modern Mexico we will be studying this year and to know more about MURALS.

PREDICTING:

PROCEDURE

  1. Ask students to list what information they expect to find in a biography.
  2. Ask students to share what information they expect to find.
  3. Have students use a selected Web site and find expected

  6. Then have students look for meaning in artistic context.
  7. Have students understand how history is reflected in art.
  8. Ask students to list words they don't understand and they think they need to know. Listing new words for vocabulary enhancement.
  9. Have students list in order their preference of art works to see on a trip to a foreign city.

 

APPLICATIONS

  1. Make a virtual museum to display on-line favorites.
  2. Write a diary about a trip and all the works they have seen.
  3. Create and write a biography to present to the class in any format
  4. Compare Diego Rivera's works to another artist they like.
  5. Do a poster advertising an upcoming Diego Rivera display.
  6. Read a book, magazine article or else about Diego Rivera's life and include Frida Kahlo.
  7. Paint their own poster.
